The Quality Inn and Suites, owned by Wirta Hospitality Worldwide has earned the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA’s) prestigious ENERGY STAR, the national symbol for superior energy efficiency and environmental protection. This signifies that the building’s energy performance rates in the top 25 percent of facilities nationwide.

Commercial buildings that earn the ENERGY STAR use an average of 40 percent less energy than typical buildings and also release 35 percent less carbon dioxide into the atmosphere.

The Quality Inn and Suites, Sequim improved its energy performance by managing energy strategically across the entire organization and by making cost-effective construction decisions and improvements to the hotel.

General Manager of Sequim Quality Inn & Suites, Nancy Schade, received the coveted Choice Hotel’s International "2010 Woman of the Year" award recently while attending the annual Choice Hotel’s convention in Las Vegas, Nevada.

This award was created to recognize an outstanding woman within the Choice Hotels International community for her contributions to the travel industry. Schade was recognized for her active leadership and mentoring in her community as she serves multiple organizations, including the American Cancer Society, Olympic Medical Cancer Center, American Red Cross, and our US Armed Forces.

"I have always loved serving people, and through the success of Sequim’s Quality Inn, I have been able to extend that service to those in our own community, rather than just the visitors of Sequim," says Schade as she still tries to take in the shock of such an honor.

(September 27th 2011, Sequim WA) Vickie Moniz, Executive Housekeeper at the Quality Inn and Suites, Sequim has won the prestigious Award for Property Excellence (APEX) from Choice Hotels International at a ceremony in Portland Oregon.

Quality Inn General Manager Chloe Fagg said, “This award is given only to individuals that represent the best of the industry. In addition to winning the APEX award, Vickie has led her team to four consecutive annual Platinum awards. This means our hotel is ranked in the top three percent in of all Choice hotels nationwide.”

Damian has created and implemented many of the successful ideas that contributed to the hotel's record revenue in 2009. He has driven revenue by developing personal relationships outside the hotel’s geographic market and has onsite relationships with AAA offices covering seven states.

He helped develop a Walk-In Analysis to capture a larger percentage of walk-in traffic, which provided ways to increase business by selling amenities rather than by dropping room rate. To show appreciation to Choice Privileges regular guests, Damian developed a tiered gift system.

His innovative ideas have increased the hotel's annual RevPAR every year since opening.

During the recession, he trusted his team with new innovative ideas and provided funds to see them through, which resulted in a record revenue year.

Nancy Schade has been the inspirational leader of the Quality Inn & Suites, Sequim from the time the hotel broke ground in 2005. She has commanded her team with hands-on leadership and an understanding of what her employees need in order to do a great job.

Since the hotel opened in January 2006, Nancy has been at the forefront of building a successful hotel, not just for the owner but as an example of how a hotel needs to run in a smaller community.

Bret Wirta put the environment first when he built the Quality Inn & Suites, in Sequim. In the building process he factored in three key elements to being environmentally friendly: 1) A "Bio Swale" to capture storm water. 2)Energy-saving lighting. 3) Irrigation water conservation.

2010 Roy Howell

Roy fills the newly created position of Green Manager, tasked with making the Hotel's efforts even greener. He brought in "Clean the World" to recycle our soaps and shampoos, encouraging the community to get involved and expand on the idea and is now targeting a "no waste" breakfast.

Bill has spent endless hours since the property opened ensuring the hotel is well maintained. During the winter storms recently, Bill on his own initiative chose to clear the snow from the guest vehicles. Several guests commented on his actions, claiming it to be unbelievable service – to Bill, it was just his way of making sure our guests left the hotel with their expectations exceeded.

Bill’s attitude is one of the reasons our hotel is Platinum rated. Owners and managers can operate good, clean hotels – it is employees like Bill Schade that make them great.
